My Poor Boy!

It all started when Jayden fell ill a few days ago, he had fever so we went to see a doctor and he prescribed antibiotics (Augmentin) and cough/flu medicaition (Phernagan) for Jayden. After consuming the medication, his body started to have red spots, called doc and he said to stop Augmentin, cos Jayden might be allergic to it. Ok, we stopped it, but few days later, still had these red spots/patches around his neck and chest areas. We called doc again and he said better bring Jayden in to have a look, when he saw Jayden, he said it's eczema.

So Doc gave a cream (CVG) to apply on Jayden's skin, the affected areas. And he said must be very careful with Jayden's diet, preferably pork, & fish, no chicken, no oats, no wheat, no yoghurt etc. So I've stopped giving all these to him... The funny thing is, before he fell ill, he was consuming all these stuffs with no problems at all, is it because he wasn't feeling well and his immune system was down, therefore allowing his underlying eczema problems to flare up? I am so confused right now, and I'm extremely careful in what I feed him.

The first few days, it was the upper body, and next day, it cleared but spread to the lower body. Is eczema like this? I know many babies are not spared of this skin condition.

I really hope all these will GO AWAY.... Jayden's 1st birthday is just around the corner, pls pls...

Do u trust this paed? The medication he prescribed is the "pungent" type..meaning its effective but does no good to the body in long term... alternative medication is to let it heal by itself slowly... this is my paed style.. cos he told me baby should not be consuming too much drugs..

anyway pls monitor a few more days.. as u said if jayden can eat all meat stuff, why not now.. so the excema could be the medication cos eczema is normally "toxin" in the body.

take care n *hugs*

Oh dear ..... that's a lot!! I reminds me of Angel's first allergy towards cow milk too and then that was after she has drank for 2 months suddenly the red spot flare up just like that. According to my Paed, sometimes mild allergy to food will only show after 1-2 months wor .... we are half-half believe her but after I didn't feed Angel with the milk (in her case), she really have no problems with her eczema again leh. I am not sure about Jayden's case as the red spots starts showing only after taking the medicine ..... maybe you want to seek for 2nd opinion from another paed?? Take care ya ..... so pity to see Jayden like that, but don't worry, he will get well soon.

my boy case is like this- he on and off fever for few days, took fever medi that my paed gav b4! after the fever gone, all the red spots came out. i brought him to c paed again, he said not allergic to the medi (coz he took tht medi b4 this! no problem at all). paed said he got 'jia ma' (sorry, dunno the name in english.) the sign of this is on n off of fever for few days, then all red spots will come out. the red spots will last for 3-7 days... exactly like my boy! hope Jayden recover very soon!! ;)

having 4 kids , I'm used to nursing them since baby whenever they have fever. If the fever is not alarming & goes away by drinking lots of water, do sponging (wet cold towel on forehead & behind ears), and if they are active..io dont even bother to take them to doctor..coz I knw if it's viral infection, the fever cant respond to antibiotics & will usually come in the night & disappear during day time(still wondering why?). So as long as Jayden is active, good appetite, no alarming fever(monitor him with home thermometer)and no sore throat..dont have to worry too much. he'll be fine over a few days. Just check that he is not dehydrated ..lips are not dry, eyes are not dry..give hime cooling agents like coconut water, rhino horn water and one friend even prescibed letting kids take ice cream if they have fever (provided no cough). take care. hope Jayden is alright by now!

Kristie, by the way it looks to like Roseola... Do you trust Chinese physician? You can bring him to the Chinese physician to have a look. Usually when Ashton has Roseola I'll get the herbs from them for him to bath, and let him drink more water and some 'liang cha'... Hope this helps...

i think maybe is caused by Augmentin, so don't worry.

hope he is feeling better now.

poor boy. speedy recovery to him. hmm...ashley is allergic to augmentin too and she got diarrhea last time. Maybe the rashes appeared after a fever. It is quite common.

thanks everyone for ur concern... as mentioned in the post after this, I suspect it's baby measles aka roseola. I will confirm with my paed when I see him end of this month, I hope my suspicions are correct!
