Gingko Barley dessert aka Fu Chuk Yi Mai

Weather has been crazy lately with the haze and all! My friends down south over in Singapore & Johor are getting it worse :-( imagine masks are sold out everywhere, it's suffocating to be breathing the air there. I really hope there'll be strong winds and rain soon to clear the air.

Bought a pack of gingko nuts last week and today I decided to make our favourite dessert- Gingko Barley also known as Fu Chuk Yi Mai. Love homemade desserts cos I can have more good stuffs inside. When eating out, sometimes I only get like 1-2 pieces of gingko nuts in my bowl :p tak cukup for me... hehe. No one has to fight for gingko nuts in this dessert here, everyone has a fair share, more than enough for all :-)

Many of my friends are asking for the recipe after I shared this dessert on Fb so here it is guys! Do try out this simple and nourishing Tong Sui one of these days.

Gingko Barley dessert

Ingredients-

1 pack gingko nuts (vacuum packed), remove centre bitter core (see photo)
1 bowl of pearl barley
2 sheets of beancurd skin for dessert, crushed and soaked in water
2-3 blades of pandan leaves, tied into knots
Rock sugar to taste
Handful of red dates
A pot of water (add water if water goes down after cooking)

-boil water in pot
-add barley, red dates and pandan leaves and boil till barley softens
-add beancurd skin and gingko nuts
-cook till you've reached desired texture for beancurd skin
-lastly add rock sugar to taste
-remove pandan leaves before serving

Enjoy!!!

I just couldn't wait to use them as I've read great reviews on these range of products.

I've used them for a couple of weeks now and I really want to share these great products with you. It's safe for even the most delicate skin such as newborn babies as it's all natural. I love the delicate texture and its feel on my baby's skin.

My boy loves to be massaged using the Olive Baby Body Moisture Milk and looks forward to each session :-) the product is easily absorbed by baby's skin and very smooth to apply, furthermore, it's a great bonding session, I'll sing to him and play games with him during the massage and he loves it ;-)

I've been looking for a safe and natural product to be used after every diaper change as my baby has rashes easily if we don't use the right product. The Olive Baby Nappy Cream solved my woes, it gently prevents rashes, creating a barrier between his pure skin and the diaper. It's not too oily too, very easy to apply and easily absorbed. My baby's skin is perfect with this product. Rashes no more!

I can't eat all my cny goodies :-(

Sigh... Down with tonsillitis twice in 2 weeks, can u believe it?

Can't take all the bak gua, cny cookies, mandarin oranges... I'm suffering cos I love to eat, furthermore this is the season to makan and be happy, what a timing, dang!

Went to see an ENT specialist today as my recurring tonsillitis is no joke... Giving me so many problems. Doc said 'yes, your tonsils are really enlarged and infected....' Gave a course of antibiotics and a gargle. I'm considering tonsillectomy too, that is, the removal of tonsils.

Those who know me will know how often I have tonsillitis! And every time I get it, it's so hard to even swallow my saliva, phlegm has blood too and of cos comes the fever when the tonsils get inflamed.

I'll put that on hold as of now as I'm still bf Kevin and it's safer not to bf when I go for the surgery as there are many things which might not be bf friendly, for instance, the anesthesia, the painkillers, medications etc. furthermore I might have to be admitted for a couple of days.

Ok enough for my tonsils story...!

How's your cny coming along? This Sunday 24/2 is the last day of cny, so fast eh? I'm sure there are more makan makan sessions with friends and loved ones :-) I have a couple coming up this weekend too, can't wait to get well...

Happy cny! Gong xi fa cai!

P/s. And yes... That's Jayden with the lion head doing his lion dance. He's booked for the whole cny! ;-)

Playground time!

Since the school holidays started, we have to make sure Jayden has activities to occupy his time. He's constantly so restless! We try to bring him to the playground daily in the evenings. It's better than being cooped up at home the whole day!

Going outdoors is good. Except the mosquitoes part! Have to apply repellent on the kids before they go there otherwise the mozzies will zoom in so quickly!

Jayden looks forward to this daily activity and so do we! ;-)

Lego Ferrari 458 Italia

Almost everyone I know is crazy with the collection of Lego Ferrari cars from Shell petrol stations! Both adults and kids alike!

I personally think this is Shell's most successful promotion to date. I guess it's also the Lego craze recently with Legoland down south and all ;-)

Jayden's first Ferrari from the collection is Ferrari 458, the yellow one. He specifically pointed out to daddy which cars he wanted. And when daddy said he'll get the whole collection, Jayden said 'no need lah, 3 cars enough already'. Lol!

His next target is the white Ferrari F40!

Anyone of you targeting the whole collection too? ;-)

Latest update- Image of Blessed Virgin Mary at Sime Darby Medical Centre, Subang Jaya

Latest update on the Blessed Mother Mary's image which appeared a few days ago on one of the windows at Sime Darby Medical Centre, Subang Jaya.

Father Simon Labrooy from Church of St Thomas More issued a statement announcing the following:

-A meeting was conducted with the management of SDMC and both parties agreed that the growing number of people going to the hospital is posing several problems, such as traffic and inconvenience to the patients and staff. It was mentioned that more than 2,000 people visited the site last Sunday itself.

-Contrary to rumours that SDMC called Bomba to come and clean off the image, SDMC assured everyone that no such measures were taken! (power of rumours huh....!) Everyone thought that was true.

-SDMC has agreed to handover the glass panel containing the image to the Catholic Church. The removal and handover will be handled with care and respect. This will be done in the next few days. I think this is a very good and respectful move.

-The glass panel with the image with be moved to Marian Church of our Lady of Lourdes Klang.

So for those who still want to view the sacred image in its original location before it's removed, quick go over!

Apparition of Mother Mary @ Sime Darby Medical Centre

I saw it! I saw it!!!!

Omg, I just couldn't believe my eyes as I stared at the image of our beloved Mother Mary on the window pane of SDMC. I was in total peace and serenity within and speechless.

We feel so blessed to be able to witness this miracle in our lifetime!!!!

The crowd was building by the minute and the atmosphere was festive & high spirited.

Was chatting with total strangers, all just in awe and we all felt so blessed.

Pictures don't really do justice, you gotta see it to really feel the moment. I was tearing, speechless and hands trembling as I took the pix.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
